Our members all enjoy shell collecting but some have added new shell related ideas to increase their enjoyment
One of our members, Tom Walker, has a fine collection of postage stamps depicting shells from across the world. It is available on the web courtesy of Guido Poppe who hosts more than 6000 images from Tom's collection. Of course, one of the objectives is to find and collect the shell that matches the stamp! Tom Walker Collection.
If you like artistic creativity, then Peter Coke has reached new heights of excellence with the use of shells in designing display pieces. His collection is now housed at the Fishermen’s Heritage Centre, Sheringham, Norfolk; do go and visit there. Full details about the exhibit are given on the Centre's web site.
Want more get togethers?
Now that all members have an up to date copy of the membership list, browse through, and see who lives close to you. Invite some members round to see your collection; ask to see theirs.
Going on holiday? Or a business trip?
Look to see if there is a member nearby who you could meet, swap shells with, or visit a beach together.
Interested in field trips or day trips?
Would you like to visit a shell place of interest together? Like a shell museum, shell grotto, or shell garden?
For any of these, let
know, and we will see what we can arrange for the coming year.
