On Saturday 29th March 2008, the first Edinburgh Shell Show will take place from 9.00 am to 4:00 pm. Admission is free. Bring a friend. This is an opportunity to meet other members in the region and to seek advice from experienced collectors.


GETTING THERE

By car
See streetmap .

By taxi
From the airport take a taxi to Fairmilehead Parish Church (approx £15).

By bus
from the airport take no 100 Airport Express bus to Princes Street (West End), then take no 11 or 15 to Fairmilehead Church.

By train
By Train get off at Waverley Station and get No 11 or 15 bus to Fairmilehead Church.


Talk by S. Peter Dance

A talk by S. Peter Dance entitled “My Journey Through the Shell World” will take place from 14.30 – 15.30.

We are thrilled that such an eminent and respected conchologist has agreed to give us an insight into his life of shells.

The Show


The show is non-competitive and we would welcome all exhibits on any shell related theme. Donations for the raffle would also be very welcome.

A number of dealers will be present at the show. If you wish to book a table, please contact Brian Hammond.

For those wishing to stay for the weekend, a shelling trip to 2 locations (1 marine, 1 non-marine) has been organised for the Sunday, to be led by Dr Adrian T. Sumner.
