The picture gallery gives members a chance to show interesting parts of their collections to a wide worldwide audience. All shells must be part of their collection. They may contribute sets of ten pictures for a gallery page together with the theme chosen and reasons for their selection.
How the gallery works on the internet
The Gallery Index page lists the members' gallery pages
Each member gallery page contains 10 thumbnail pictures
The caption below each picture gives a short description
More information and a larger single picture can be displayed by clicking on the thumbnail which will create the Picture Page
The left /right buttons will scan through gallery showing each single picture in turn
The return button on the picture page will take you back to the gallery of thumbnail pictures
To contribute a set of pictures which should be in multiples of ten.

Choose a theme and for each shell, a digi picture is needed together with details of the shell, the size, the location found and some interesting info about the specimen.
You should submit the digi pics in jpg format preferably reduced to 500*375 pixels at 72bpi on CD or floppy (1.44mb) together with an E mail(no text attachments) detailing the wording to be used on each of the 10 specimen pages. Make it interesting and explain about the specimen and its pedigree.
If you don't have a digital camera, ask the webmaster for some help.
Using the gallery for advertising or selling shells is not allowed.
Members' News rules and procedures
The British Shell Collectors Club has no interest in any transactions which are between individual members.The club takes no responsibility for the accuracy of the content and the descriptions in the adverts and does not play any role in any transaction.
Any member may have one page at any time but not more than one. Family membership gives one page.
A page comprises a maximum of 30 lines and a maximum of 1 picture.
The page will be removed after 90 days when it may be renewed or a new page may be submitted. Only one change is permitted, up to 10 days after the submission, to correct errors.
To submit a page, send an email to the
with your text content and optionally a picture(jpg) no bigger than 300*200 pixels to the webmaster. Keep the text simple and avoid the use of tables/frames etc
The content must be shell related.
Commercial advertising is not encouraged.
To prevent unwanted SPAM mail, members should carefully consider whether they wish to include their email address. The website has been designed using encryption techniques to minimise the chance of electronic harvesting of email addresses. Someone needs to manually copy your email address. If members decide to include their email address in the advert, they should refer to the disclaimer below in their transmittal email.
Members who decide to omit their email should include a telephone contact and times of day.
SPAM email disclaimer The member understands that by publishing their email address on the internet, the club has no control over third parties who may copy the address either electronically or manually and use the email address to send undesirable and inappropriate emails to the member. The club accepts no responsibilty should this happen.
Acknowledgement and Attribution
All pictures and articles remain the property of the British Shell Collectors' club and the originator except those whose attribution is acknowledged and whose rights are retained by author/originator. Pictures and articles may not be copied without their prior approval. The rights of authors to pictures from the Internet, used in this site, are acknowledged in the description of the picture when the cursor is held over picture.
